Why would you select a quartz heater. Does the promotional litearture keep you warm? Try burning it, that might produce some heat. $300 is too much, you need that money to pay your heating bill. Anyway, I seriously doubt quartz is any more efficient than a cheap space-heater. They're both 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. To improve on that you need a heat pump. Those are just an air-conditioners that are turned around, so that instead of pumping heat out in the summer, they pump heat inward in the winter. If you'r talking a residental room, you're pretty much limited to 1500 watts. More than that you'll trip a breaker. It doesn't matter what you're using, all the heat is transferred into the room, the only difference is how much heats the air, and how much heats objects by radiation. A bunch of ordinary light bulbs would be the cheapest, the light and heat is as efficient as you'll get.
