how much lime? how large an area of planting beds? Assuming your soil is slighlty acidic, I wouldn't apply more than the equivalent of 25 pounds per 1,000 sq. ft. ground limestone
Lime is a soil conditioner. But it makes your soil less acidic. Your soil has a PH and you don't want to add too much lime because your soil could already be alkaline. Or it may be helpful because your soil could possibly be too acidic. You would have to do a soil test. I bought a soil PH test at Home-Depot earlier this year. But your local garden center may have one now. I'm not sure if Home-Depot would have one because they rotate their stock based on the season. I also know that Lilacs love lime. I would do a little more research about the plants that you have in your garden, because they may also be lime loving too.
lime away. Lime is just a soil conditioner- so it will actually aide your plants getting nutrients!
