Question:

Why is my transmission making noise?

I have a 90 nissan sentra and it sounds like there is a knock coming from the transmission. However, every time I push in the clutch the knocking sound goes away. What could it be?

Answer:

Not likely to be a clutch problem. I would suspect it is the forward bearing in the transmission. If the noise is there when the transmission is in neutral and your not touching the clutch, that is most likely the source of the noise. Not 100% sure because I can not see the car. Are you sure you have oil in the transmission ? Do you have the correct oil in your transmission ? For sure, it will make noise if the oil level is low. If the oil level is low, that means you have a leak. I had someone bring me a Honda Prelude with a similar problem some time ago, and the transmission was almost dry. The correct oil solved the noise, and the transmission seems to be fine. We got it in time. We changed the leaking seal on the driver side axle.
that,s not the transmission, that,s the throwout bearing making that noise and needs to be changed !
