Why polarized light passing through the quartz crystal gives ordinary and extraordinary light?

Answer:

a normal quartz movement, works with battery that will eventually die
Quartz is a mineral... So it probably means the quartz was found in Switzerland or processed there. Swiss made would probably mean that the whole watch was made in Switzerland (as opposed to China or something). Just guessing though... I don't really use watches. >.<
