Question:

Why should I not blow evaporative cooler into attic space of my house?

I have refrigeration, and a separate evaporative coolerI wanted to switch the evaporative cooler on when the refrigeration compressor was not running, and have it blow into the attic space, above the insulationThis would lower the attic temperature below ambient, so would be potentially better than just electric vent fans.Besides the complexity of getting these two systems to play well together, why would this not be a good idea?(I'd run one and not the other, to limit current draw at the meterthey are both on the same circuit.)

Answer:

because , you have over looked the very first rule ( never to broken rule ) in attic insulation and ventingAnd that is to never , never, never trap or introduce moisture into the AtticThis will cause wood rot and moldmold it not that big of deal to me, the wood rot isSo that is the answer to your questionA hot and bone dry attic is 1000 times better than warm or cool and moist atticThe moisture collects under the insulation and in the wood and in 20 years you will have to replace your rotting rafters.
Your answer from KK is very comprehensiveScotland has great natural larder of food from the best cold water fish both river and sea to delicious lamb and beef and venison when we can get it and it is not being exportedLike every country in the west we have the problem of people not cooking at home and buying take away which gives a bad reputation but this is only amongst the lower echelons as any good family still eats well and always has doneWe have excellent cheeses and soft fruits and of course our climate makes malt whisky a good drink in moderationMy daughters are very modern women with careers and small children but are excellent cooks and can knock up simple pasta dishes or more elaborate meals when requiredOur preference in the past for oats over wheat and fish over meat is what kept our ancestors healthyI would like to see more modern families go back to just that.
