Question:

Why should there be a gap between the rails?

Why should there be a gap between the rails?

Answer:

Because the rail will be affected by the environment, thermal expansion, cold contraction, if there is no gap, then the rail heating expansion, will track extrusion deformation.Solving the problem of thermal expansion and cold contraction of track is one of the main aspects. Secondly, it is convenient for laying and maintenance.
Avoid the rail due to "expansion, contraction" and the track extrusion deformation (cold winter, the track will shrink because of the gap between the larger; hot summer rail due to heat and gap smaller).
After laying the rails, the wood seems to swell and the rails will jump up.To prevent the heat from rising and cold contraction, the two rails have strong pressure on each other, thus damaging the rail. So there must be a gap between the rails.
