Why was bronze used before iron when iron ores are more abundant and easier to find?

The iron age started about 700BC 1300 years after the Bronze age. Bronze is an alloy of tin and copper. However, iron ore is more abundant and easier to find than ores of copper and tin.This is for my chemistry homework! Thanks for your help
