i have a 18 in audiobahn subwoofer. i was wanting to put it in my 01 grand am, will it preform better than 4 8's or 2 12's if put in the right box and tuned right with the right amount of power?

There's NO way you'll get the right box for an 18 in the trunk of a GA. I put a 15 diamond D6 in my nephew's '01 GP. I designed and built the box personally. It was about 4 cubic feet, ported. It was too large to fit in the trunk in one piece. I had to disassemble it and put it back together inside the trunk. The RIGHT box for any 18 - assuming you're going for SPL and want it ported - probably needs to be 6 or 8 cubic feet. That's an SUV sub.
Ur gonna need a 2kwatt amp at least a probox, it shud hit great.
