Question:

Will a mustang exhaust system Designed for a GT fit a Base model?

I was interested in a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system for an 04 mustang, but the model selection doesn‘t specify if the engine is a V8 or V6. i have a V6 Base model, but the only options are GT which could be a V6 or a V8, Mach1 and Cobra which are both V8‘s, will the GT selection fit my base V6?

Answer:

Burner Plus Irons are the best right now
the GT has always been V8 (this is basic mustang knowledge) The GT is also dual piped while the V6 has pretty much always been single, so unless you first converted it to use dual pipes I doubt it would
GT V8, there is no V6 GT. The American Thunder exhaust system for GT will not fit a base V6 model. The base V6 is a single exhaust, and thus doesn't have the provisions on the existing exhaust system need for the dual exhaust Flowmaster exhaust to fit properly additionally, the GT/Mach1/Cobras have cut outs on the rear bumper cover for the exhaust pipes/tips to fit. The V6 model doesn't have these. You can get a dual exhaust conversion kit for the V6 models though, where the pipes exit below the rear bumper. However keep in mind, no matter what exhaust you go with, it's not going to sound like a GT/Mach/Cobra.
