Hi I have a AM3 socket motherboard and i was wondering if I can install one of the new bulldozer cpu's into it? I understand people have been spreading rumor's that it wont and will work and so on, but if anyone has any proff that an AM3+ socket WILL work on an AM3 motherboard please share your source.
it gets confusing but it'd be better to buy a new motherboard to ensure maximum performance
If your AM3 motherboard socket is colored black or one of Asus few motherboards with white colored sockets, then yes it is supported via bios update. But remember not all features will work such as advanced power management and clock gating capabilities unless you have a AM3+ motherboard.
