I have been instructed by my HOA to quot;Carpet all floorsquot; as I laid a vinyl plank and it's against HOA rules. Could I get away with laying carpet tiles over this? I have pets and I believe carpet tiles will work better as I can replace a tile if it becomes damaged.
carpet okorder . there are many suppliers but this one had a great selection and price. a carton of 10 tiles 24x24 inch $8 per tile.
They are pretty equal in the sound department. Your HOA is the best bet though, they may not define carpet as carpet tiles. Better to clarify with them first rather than spend money twice.
Nearly. Carpet tiles are a bit denser and transmit sound better than conventional carpet. As you point out however, it is extremely convenient should you experience any damage. And having pets, damage is almost a certainty (I speak whereof I know: cats). Put the tiles on almost any pad and I don't think there's going to be a quantifiable difference between tiles and roll. The extra layer should do a fine job of silencing your place. This is an excellent reason to live anywhere there isn't an HOA. I say, it's my effing place, not the HOA's.
if laid wall to wall carpet, does not specify padding?
