Question:

Will getting new shocks lift my car a little?

When I look at my car the passenger side is a little lower then the driver side. If I buy new shocks will that bring it up a little bit? Please help with some options if you know. Thanks very much.

Answer:

not the shocks won,t. what will raise it is the springs.
Shocks don't provide lift - springs do. If you want lift, you either need taller springs, a lift kit or pneumatic shocks (load levelers).
Not unless you get air shocks and adjust them to the height that you want. The suspension is at a set height. If yours is 'squatting on one side, you may have something broken, something is wrong for sure. The only thing regular shocks do is control the amount of rebound on your suspension when driving down the road. EDIT, It may not necessarily be your springs. You need to get your whole suspension looked at. It could be a combination of several different things. I would take it the place where you were going to get the shocks and get them to look at it. It could be something simple.
No, your car rides on its springs. The shocks are just there absorb shock from the springs. If you replace your shocks, and the springs are still sagging, the car will still sag. Additional Info: It may not just need new springs, if its sagging, it could be a combination of the springs, struts, leaf springs, and shocks. If a leaf spring broke, it could put extra weight on your coil springs, which puts extra weight on your shocks, which puts extra weight on your struts, which means all of them need to be replaced. Your car may not have springs, it may only have a tortion bar. Could be broken control arm Either way, fixing ONLY the shocks isn't going to fix it. You need to have your entire suspension system checked out.
