Will refriderant lines in a central A/C develop larger holes leaking larger quantities as time goes on?
Depends on the reason for the hole in the beginning. If the pipe is wearing out (doubtful) it will continue to deteriorate. Most likely, the refrigerant will all leak out before the hole gets bigger.

It really depends on where the hole is located. If they are on the refrigerant lines themselves, there is something rubbing the copper and making a hole. If this is not fixed, then yes they will get bigger. Most of the time the most common places where leaks occur is at a solder joint (from poor installation) or on the interior evaporator coil. If the leak is at a solder joint, then no the hole will not increase in size but it will have to be re-soldered to be repaired. On the coil, leaks usually occur where the copper tubing loops out of the aluminum fins and goes back in. The copper goes through a sheet metal shield that holds the coil together. After a while vibration will cause the copper to rub this sheet metal and create a small hole. In this case, your answer is yes.
