Question:

with a manual transmission?

Someone claims they have a manual transmission. Their car just broke down. They said they needed a new timing belt and a new converter. Is this.possible being a manual? Sorry, I dont know jack about cars. Thanks

Answer:

Evaluate what parts you need then just go to an Auto Salvage get what you need for way less. If you don't want to repair it yourself just bring the parts in to the installer. Then after the parts are on I would recommend an alignment.
at least 500.00 at a good shop a ticket for driving with known defective equipment may cost you more
GET IT FIXED NOW!! It's dangerous and expensive to drive it like that.
timing belt is in the engine and converters are only on auto transmissions
A manual just means it has a clutch and needs to be manually shifted. The type of transmission has little to do with the engine and its needs.EDIT- A torque converter is in a automatic transmission not a manual All cars have a catalytic converter(exhaust). Unclear which converter your talking about.
