I am a dentist. Without knowing the genetics of the first child it is difficult to determine what the probability of it occurring again will be. There are many causes of ranging from medications, developmental, genetics etc. If you had a second normal child, then it is either not genetic or recessive in nature. If it is recessive in nature and the children are of the same father then your probability would be 25% neglecting all other factors, but if different fathers and genetic, then the new father must be a carrier. Also you need to know if it is a syndrome such as van der woude syndrome. Hope this helps some, but without the genetics it is just speculation.
my parents had a total of 7 children i am the youngest and the only one with a hair lip cleft pallet.. so relax i do not think you have anything to worry about.
