I want to put a cat back exhaust on my 2013 civic si but don‘t want it to be too loud, can I put my old muffler on the new system?
yeah the exhaust manifold and the headers are a bolt on job, but someone is going to have to spot weld the hangers to the mounting positions, please don't wire your exhaust system to the mount to complete the job, you can do this to go to the welder, but don't use this as your finished job, the vibration will rip everything apart
doesnt take a minute to look under car and tel if its welded which most are done but replacing it dont have to weld its just faster and holds better most any muffler shop wil weld you can use clamps and bolts your ok
A cat back exhaust system implies a performance exhaust system. If you put your old muffler on the cat back, you won't get much increase in performance. If your pipes are bad and need to replace them, the muffler is probably bad too. Just go to an autoparts store and get replacement parts for you exhaust and save a lot of money. My son recently put a performance exhaust on one of his vehicles. He did a turbo back replacement. Obviously his old muffler would not fit since it was for 4 pipe and his new exhaust is 5 but it came with a new muffler that weighs about 30 lbs.
Depends on what vehicle you are working with. Some headers bolt directly to the factory pipe, others require pipe modification. Pipe mods are best left to a shop in my experiance. If you do this yourself you want to use alot of penatraing oil on the exhaust bolts hours if not days in advance. You twist one of these of and it will ruin your day gauranteed.
