When we talk about the expansion of the universe we're dealing with the space of the universe on a scale of billions of light years. On the scale of the Earth the space we'd have to consider is microscopic, like that between molecules. Technically those miniscule spaces are expanding, but to such an extant as to be absolutely meaningless and immeasurable.
I used them and didn't really have a major problem. It may be the way you are holding baby. Try to line baby up better so its more of a direct connection than one that is causing the nipple shield to move on you. I would just say to deal as best you can. It gets way easier so you won't be using the shield forever anyways. I sanitized my shields before using them using sterilized hot water, maybe that helped ? Not sure since it didn't happen to me. Also when you store it make sure its flat and the flaps are curled under or anything. Don't want to warp it.
