Say you were in Lowe's in the building department. And you notice a top shelf with a dent from below on the facing shelf support. The hard corner is dimpled in. The dimple causes the front facing metal to bend out, creating an area maybe 6 or 7 inches wide. It looks as if a machine banged into it from underneath. And now put a full pallet of cement block off center to the right (overlapping the dimple by a few inches). And say you live in earthquake country where tremors are happening all the time. Lastly, you tell the store manager and stress how important it is to take that pallet down and you return many hours later for something else and see that pallet still up there. What would you do? Aside from the resident wise-guys who would think it's funny and walk the other way (I know my Yahoo! ;). I'm looking to evaluate my own approach. Thanks.
In 47 years of being a contractor and carpenter I have never heard of this but, that doesn't mean it cannot be done. I can see problems right off though. First, the wood is not cut even and it's not cut all the right thickness. So, this means You have to have a planer and a power sander. You have to have some way to seal this wood, being a hard wood they're made from, I'm sure they're not all the same wood. I have a real good idea. For 50 cents a foot I would buy my flooring from a dealer, cut out all this middle work and time, and save a lot of backaches and worry.
