can I grow Marijuana with just soil?

alright so I dont have the means to go out and buy a bunch of lights and nutrients and stuff to grow weed. so what I wanna know is can I just plant some seeds in some soil, keep them in a decently lit place and water them? i mean it should work how did George Washington grow his bud on mt. Vernon?

You would be correct to say that both of these substances are natural, and natural occurrinf butbut to me to be able to use the word organic, you must also be able to say environmentally conscience..
