Question:

cold air intake idea.smart?

so i had an idea about mounting a cold air intake inside the cab of my 94 f150. i could drill a hole through the firewall, have the filter right on the other side, and seal it up. not positive where i could hide it just yet but theoretically since the engine can draw colder/cleaner air to the engine wouldn‘t it run even stronger? how much of a difference in performance would it make to mount under the hood than in the cab?

Answer:

This will cause negative pressure in the cab (a vacuum) so it will suck the vents closed, your truck has vents to prevent high pressure in the cab, all trucks do. You will have increased engine noise through the intake tube. Cold air is good but I doubt if the A/C system will keep up with the demand from the engine. Also consider the A/C robs power from the engine so the more cold air you suck through the engine the more the A/C will have to run in order to keep the cab cold. You get a 10 on the weird-o-meter. I do not think it's a good idea but it could work, simply because I've seen crazier things that did work. Good luck.
companies spend billions of dollars trying to find the right way for the engine to work, anything that you do will bring problems on the long run
Not smart, no benefit, very load interior noise do to engine intake. A stock filter system is a cold air intake meaning it draws air from outside the engine compartment. A good KN or Uni filter is all you need.
