Question:

Difference between.intakes.?

Can anyone explain the difference between the Cold Air Intake Systems and the Short Ram Air Intake Systems?

Answer:

I have had alot of motorcycles over the last 30 years and have never had a blow out. I'm sure it could happen but is probably the least likely thing to go wrong,Unless you run over something of course.I have wore tires down to the core and still don't worry about it.that was in my early years when funds were tight.Just keep good rubber on them and don't worry about it
Depends on the type of riding you do. Trails with rocks or a nice MX track! I ride trails with rocks, mud, sand and tree roots. I use the Dunlop 952 and I love it!
cold air intakes go down usually to your fender , or down to the bumber.to take COLD AIR In. a short ram is half the lengthand is usually called hot air intake, cuz ur suckking the hot engine air into the engine back again.its pointless cold air intakes take only cold air into the engine, which improves the hp. the only advantage the short ram has, is that the filter wont get flooded in heavy rain, and then your car will be sucking water in.
A cold air intake is your basic tube and filter combination. It is shorter in length and usually cheaper. A Short ram air intake will be longer and usually ends near the bumper and is more of a forced air induction system.
Cold air intake takes air from the lower front of the vehicle ( the grill or bumper), where air will be cooler than in the engine bay. Short ram air intake runs air through 1-2 feet of plumbing (much shorter than cold air intake), increasing overall volume of air being sucked up by the engine. However, it takes air right from the engine bay, where it is hot. Overall, they deliver the same performance.
