Question:

Glass and Mirrors, what's the difference?

I know how reflection works, with the light reflecting back and all that jazz. But aren't mirrors made of glass? How does that work out?

Answer:

A pir senses relatively sudden temperature movement, so a dog, cat, warm motorcycle etc. will trigger it. Any of those heat changes if moved slowly enough in front of the pir will be ignored by the pir- the pir slowly becomes accustomed to the new heat sources. Maximum range depends on the visibility of the temperature change, for example a pir could be in a warm garage pointed at a warm garage door- no detection as expected. Then you open the garage door- the pir looks out into the cold night sky 30+ miles away, and the pir turns on until ajsted to the new heat balance. So no a pir can't tell a human from something else. They do have micro bolometers like the Flir Lepton that can read temperature, so maybe a 97.8 degree reading equals a human.
I'd pull the alarm and apologize later. If they think they'd get away with fining a rape victim, then they'd need to think again. I say do anything you need to do to avoid a rape. Kick/punch/pinch/pee/bite it off! I especially like the bite it off because then no matter what he does to you, he's going to pay a price, too. At the very least, how will he explain it at the hospital?? Anyway, fight, then report, because you will live with that experience the rest of your life. It never goes away and affects how you react to bosses and other authority figures.
