Lightning rods attract the lightning more than surrounding objects like your house, by attracting lightning if it strikes it strikes the rod instead of other objects, thus protecting whatever the lightning rod is around. They were invented, because buildings used to be made completely wood and during thunderstorms lightning would hit them and the heat of the energy within lightning would set roofs and other parts of the buildings on fire.
All 3 of my vehicles have excellent sets of winter tires on them that would blow away anything you were using in the good old days.
Got me. I live at 2000 feet on a private road next to a national road and I put studs on every tire on every vehicle as soon as November rolls around. I'm in VA and originally from PA and the locals act like they've never seen a studded tire. Lots of chains on the back roads here.
