Question:

Price for a new motorcycle tire?

Hi everyone, I have a 2003 Yamaha V-Star. Does anyone know the going rate to repair the back tire of these motorcycles or similar ones? I‘m trying to get her fix up for this summer, so I could enjoy the summer months.

Answer:

That all depends on the brand of tire you get. Theres a wide range of possibilities. Anywhere from 175-350 bucks. 175 being a low quality/low mileage tire. Add 12-15 bucks for mount/balance and tire disposal.
Motorcycle tires don't repair well. If it's worn out, you need to replace it. Replacement cost should be $150 to $200 installed for the rear tire. A bit less for the front. Depends on the brand of tire and the shop charge for replacing it of course. It will be less expensive if you can take the wheel off yourself and take it into the shop for them to dismount the old tire and mount a new tire.
I have a sport tourer and a new rear tire is around $170, but the really good ones may be over $190. Since yours is a cruiser, it might be more expensive, but should be under $250 for a new tire. Depending on how worn the tire is, maybe you just want a brand new one instead of repairing the tire.
