Question:

What is the easiest way to go through doorways when laying ceramic floor tile?

What techniques and tools would make it easier to go through doorways when laying ceramic floor tile

Answer:

I use a piece of cardboard [like a cereal box] cut to the size of the tile then trim it to fit around the opening when it will lay in as the tile would I use it as a pattern to mark the tile to be cut. If all cuts are done right the tile will fit perfectly. good luck John
chi peppers idea seems to complicated. i would just cut the bottom of the door frames so the tile can slide underneath a bit. you cna always caulk the gap a bit. if your floors are different, you would need a transition strip (example ceramic to hardwood).

You need to get a special hand saw to cut the bottoms of the door frames. Cut off just enough to allow for the thickness of the tile and mortar. Then you can lay your tile with the edges up under the door frame for a nice neat installation. You can buy these kinds of saws at most any hardware store. Below is one at Home Depot.
When installing ceramic tile, great care should be taken when measuring around your doorways. The doorways are the hardest place to apply tiles, as the area has many sizes to take into consideration. Cutting and installing ceramic tile around doorways should not be seen as a daunting task. Before you begin, you will want to first take careful measurements at your doorway. Once you have the proper measurements, you will then want to cut your tile using a masonry saw. Cut your tiles to fit the measurements of your doorway and lay them in the doorway as you cut them to help you keep track of where each tile should go. you can find some good tile saws in my source site.
