Question:

When should I get a high chair?

I'm sort of jumping the gun, but I am trying to educate myself about babies because we are going to be trying for a baby this year. I have started a preliminary baby registry (to add to or take away from as I learn more), and I was wondering if a high chair is something I would need right away. When would babies start pureed food?

Answer:

You do not need a high chair right the way. You can start baby food as early as 4 month old but babies really need to be able to sit up before sitting in a high chair (which is like 7 mos +)
babies usually start eating food between 4-6 months. Before the 4-6 month mark, the baby should only receive breast milk or formula. There is really no need for a highchair before then...unless you just want to be prepared.
