04 durango engine light.why did it come on?
I would have to say, I don't know. Unless they don't know what they are doing which is possible. If the light is on, there has to be SOMETHING wrong. You may have to go to a place that charges you to get the right diagnosis. You can try another discount auto parts store if there is one available in your area. Most common causes are faulty o2 sensor and gas cap that wasn't tightened all the way. ( 3 clicks.)
Steven J has apparently never turned a wrench on his car, before. On a CRX, I can swap out the intake in about 2 minutes. It's a piece of cake. And it will NOT cost $300. And if all you're doing is swapping an air filter like he did, that's about 30 seconds worth of work. IF THAT. And if you're stupid enough to belive KN's advertised claims about what it will do for your car.well.there's just no helping some people. Edit: Kenny, I gave you thumbs down, because like you said, you're saying what everyone else is. There was no point for you to answer, when answers that satisfied the question were already given. Nevermind that it won't cost as much as you said it would anyway. But if all you're going to do is agree with people, there's no point in posting. Doesn't help in the slightest.
A cold air intake will cost around $200 and might give you an extra 3 horsepower.maybe. Nothing you will notice or feel. ****EDIT**** why am I getting so many thumbs down when I am basically saying what everybody else is? The light comes on because something needs attention. In order to find out what part needs attention you must first have the vehicle scanned by a shop with the proper equipment to determine the fault code. Or it could just need a tune up or be something as simple as a loose gas cap. You didnt give us any info other than yr and make, lots of things can make the light go on. Have the ecm scanned
could be any number of things on that one a loose gas cap will set the light to come on,your best bet would be to have the computer scanned on it,and this will tell you what caused it,most of the time its a sensor that makes it come on or an intermittent problem in the system,it may not even have the problem now,but the light will still be set once the problem happens,have it scanned auto zone will do this for free,and tell you what caused it to come on,then you can repair it,you cant guess at this one though,there's too many things that can cause it to happen,good luck .,,PS if its not showing any problems on the scanner it could be a filter or it was just an intermittent problem that may not even be there now,good luck.
