Answer:

Rosincore,LEADFREE. Never use a lead solder for household water.
you need to get some LEAD FREE solder, but to get the solder to stick and bond around the joint you also need to buy some LACO FLUX otherwise buying just solder is useless!you wipe the flux on the pipes, heat it with a blow lamp until it starts bubbling, then once hot enough melt the solder to the desired area.
Suggestion, use plastic pipe. There are three or more types out there now. The clamps crimp on or glue. all the fitting are available to convert. I won't go back since I 've used it. Copper pipes are becoming a thing of the pass.
Before you do anything, change the gas cap. Computerized systems depend upon a load of input sources, one of which is fuel system pressure. Funny thing is that a bad gas cap seal will never show up on an analysis but is the problem 60% of the time. Your car is old enough to have a bad gasket/seal. Disconnect battery negative post for 30 minutes, then reconnect. If light comes on again, go to local auto parts store and have them read the code. They'll tell you what's wrong for nothing. If you take it to the dealer straight away, they'll charge at least $200 (just to analyze), keep your car for awhile, replace some parts and then get it back to you; maybe fixed, maybe not. I always change the gas cap first (a non-locking one - lockers don't seal well)
