i want to replace my rear axle from a 6 lug to a 5 lug 5 inch rear.does anyone know what vehicles i should look for at the junk yard.i read once that a 1972 truck axle will bolt right in.any suggestions or other info would be great.
GM did a major redesign of their pickups for 1967. Many parts are similar for 67-72. An axle swap might not work. There is a parts interchange book that many salvage yards use, but I can't remember the name of it now. There are other manuals out there though. You might want to find a message board for pickup enthusiasts and see if anyone on there has done one. Not sure how many gearheads are on Y!A.
