I replaced the intake manifold on my 1989 caprice with a Holley high rise high performance manifold. Everything came out right but now the car aint shifting right. The machanic told me that the original bracket that holds the TV cable/gear cable couldnt be used so he had to use the bracket that came with the new manifold. He adjusted the gear cable all the way but the car would take a while to shift so he added some sip ties at the end of the cable to tighten it alittle but now I feel it's shifting to soon. Is it because it needs more tighten? Should i add another sip tie? Should the cable be tight or have some slack?
get the original brackt or a bracket from a junkyard it will save u a month of frustration.in the 700r4 and up those cables are extremely picky and dont seem to follow much for rules except the will work well when adjusted wellif need be find yer bracket and figure out where it needs to be and cut and weld it near that spot and adjusting it will work well.a misadjusted 1 can be tearing up yer tranny
I detect a problem receiving channel 6, move your antenna a little to the right. I have to say that I have been a mechanic for 40 years and have never seen a car with a TV cable, unless you are talking about the cables hooked to TV's found in limousines and heavy trucks. Transmission kickdown cable is what you are trying to talk about. The only adjustment is that: at wide open throttle the cable is fully pulled. Upshifting and downshifting issues are controlled by this cable (adjust as mentioned) the arc the end of the cable operates at (the rate at which it is pulled by the throttle) which there is little you can do with your backyard conversion, and the transmission modulator valve.
Shorter cable will shift sooner, longer later
