Question:

1992 chevy cavalier has windshield wiper fluid issue?

I have a 1992 Chevy Cavalier rs, the wiper blades and motor are working, the fluid basin is filled with washer fluid, but when I go to use it. no fluid comes out. It‘s winter and I need it fixed,,,quick! Any suggestions. Maybe a website with diagrams?

Answer:

Simple fix. Go to your nearest auto parts store show one of the counter men the hose with the hole i it and they will sell you enough to replace the bad one. I have found that a lot of the O Reilly stores will also do the repair on some of these minor things My wife gets stuff put on all the time and she aint all that hot looking any more, lol. Just kidding, my wife is beautiful to me and we been together for 39 yrs. Any how its an easy and inexpensive repair.
my bet would be that the lines that bring the water up to the jets are either frozen or clogged.with dirt or the nozzles are clogged. open the hood and look at the nozzles that the fluid comes out of. you should find rubber hoses going to each. disconnect one of the hoses and then close the hood and work the washers. then shut the washers off and open the hood to see if any water came out of the hose. if it did then hook the line back up to the nozzle and try it again. if nothing comes out then the nozzle is clogged. you may be able to clean a clogged nozzle with a thumb tack. if nothing came out of the rubber hose when it was disconnected then feel the hose to see if it is frozen. if the hose is frozen then use a hair dryer to heat it and melt the blockage. windshield washer fluid has alcohol in it to stop it from freezing but if you've been using soap and water to refill the reservor it will freeze. if the line isn't frozen and the jet isn't clogged and you still get no water out of the rubber hose at the nozzle then either the pump is bad or the reservoir is frozen.
It could be a pump, but it also could be a clogged or disconnected or broken hose or a clogged nozzle (where the water comes out.) Also, if the pump is not working, it could be a fuse for the pump or disconnected wire (the one that brings power to the pump.) First check if the pump is working. You should hear it. Then disconnect a thin water hose close to the tank and see if the water comes out there when the pump is running. If it's OK there, go down the line of hoses. I bet it's clogged somewhere because it's an old car.
