1998 Acura Integra Axle & Transmission?

Replacing axle in a !998 Acura Integra LS and it will not fully insert.What will happen if you start the car and put it in drive if the axle is not properly placed while it is still on jacks? Could this throw a rod in the transmission or result in the transmission being torn up?I am asking because the axle will not go all the way in and the person who was trying to fix it started the car and put it in drive and it made a terrible sound. What Happened!!!????

rs is the backside end of all integra fashions. its the main inexpensive of the cheap. its no longer a physically powerful purchase except you're gonna flow speedier, dont assume super numbers the two except you flow turbocharger certainly speaking the explanation why it has a b20 advance into cuz the previous proprietor had to flow rigidity induction, and cuz the b20 has greater torque.
The axle is actually sliding thru 2 seperate gears when you insert it into the transmission. The noise you heard was the inside gear grinding against the splines on the CV Axle. Axles can be tricky to get all the way in but they HAVE to be all the way in or the rest of the control arm assembly wont go back together. There should be a lock ring on the end of the shaft that goes into the transmission. Make sure this metal ring is snug against the axle because if it is too loose it will stop the axle from going in all of the way. Once this ring is snug then you can put a little grease on the end of the axle, then line it up straight as you can and turn it until you feel the splines aligning and then tap the other end with a hard rubber mallet and it should pop into place. Check to see if the splines are damaged on the new axle if they are, it will never slide in. Sometimes replacement axles get damaged at the shop that rebuilds them.
