I love to knit, crochet, etcnow I have gotten into weaving your own yarnI just want to know how much would 1 oz of wool roving make into yards of yarn2 oz, 3oz etcif anyone can help?
First, to clarify - if you're making your own yarn you're spinning it, not weaving itAs for how many yards are in an ounce of roving - there's no way to tellWhen you spin your own yarn you can make it as thick or thin as you likeThin yarn will make more yards per ounce than thick yarn, but even if you spin it thin - which you probably won't do if you're just learning! - if you ply it you'll decrease the yardage that wayIf you need to know yardage for a project there are ways to measure handspun yarnI have a McMorran balance which will tell me yards per pound; then I just weigh what I have and divide or multiply to figure out how many yards I haveFor example, if my yarn turns out to be 1,000 yards/pound and I have 8 ounces then I know I have 500 yards of yarnIf you really get into spinning you can invest in one of these; then you won't have to wonder if you have enough for your projectYou can find out before you start the project - and if there isn't enough you can always spin more!
I have asked this same question many times, and didn't receive a good answer
