Question:

2001 honda civic transmission problems?

i have a 2001 honda civic LX automatic with about 140000 miles on it. about 4 months ago it started slipping but only in low speed. it finally stopped completely and would only rev when in drive and reverse. i let it sit and when it was time to tow it it was put in neutral and pushed so the tow truck could get to it better. well just for the hell of it i tried again before towing and it started right up and drove great for two weeks. then is started all over again. i let it sit for 3 days and then it worked again only now it takes a minute to get into drive (it revs then goes in gear). could it be anything else other than needing a new transmission?

2001 Honda Civic Transmission Problems
Usually when the transmission starts slipping it's time for a rebuild. Drive and Reverse are usually the first gears to go. Check the fluid level first to make sure it isn't low and if it's up to the proper level transmission rebuild is in order. Honda's do have alot of solenoids that control the transmission. You should go to either to a Honda dealer or transmission shop that has the capabilities to pull the transmission codes and with any kind of luck maybe that'll be all you need. Good luck and hope this helps.
