Question:

2003 1500 Vulcan classic motorcycle (kawasaki)?

How hard is it to change the back tire on this motorcycle? Would it be better to take it to a shop? They want to charge me $212.00 to change it for me. Any info appreciated:)

Answer:

shaft drive yes then go to the nearest auto parts store and get some rubber gasket material and replace it. i changed mine on my vulcan and used this it is simply splinned and slids it and out of a gear. the seal is for grease holding you can add sealer or use bald, but i payed 65.00 for a tire change it took longer to get them to put the tire on that it did to get it apart. just donot force it back together ok, mess up the gear drive you are really screwed
To get the wheel off the bike, the rear end has to be jacked up enough for the tire to clear the fender. If you think you can jack it up enough, go for it. Then bring the wheel to the shop and let them change the tire for $50.
That's pretty high. If you try to do it yourself it's almost impossible to get the new tire to seal so you can air it up. Most people take the wheel in for a new tire. Much cheaper.
