Question:

2006 Ford Taurus Check Emission Light, Shuddering Horribly at Low Speeds, What do I do?

The car had it‘s transmission replaced last year and it felt somewhat similar when the transmission was going. It has 120k miles and other than the transmission has always been a trooper. It hasn‘t stalled yet at a low speed but it feels like it‘d like to. Anyone have any guesses? Is the check emission light and check engine light the same on this car? Pretty terrified.

Answer:

Use hot, soapy water. Palmolive or Tide would do well. But blot don't rub or scrub because you may enlarge the stain. Be sure to use hot water rinse once the stain is out to remove the soapy residue.
chances are THAT YORU trans REPLACEMENT WAS not necessarY AND YOU WERE A victim HERE! HE check engien light SHOULD BE tested for free AT ANYH auto zone! i WOUDL start TAKING $20-40 TO any oil change center AND HAVING YORU throttle body AND idle air control valve CLEANED OUT! chances are that you have been using VERY CHEAP oil changes WHCIH HAS started YOUR PROBLEMS! tHESE ENGIEN just love mobil one 0W-30 AND 0W-20 engien oil! iT KEPPS sludge FROM EVER FORMING AND converters WILL LAST TILL NEXT CENTURY! amsoil IS ANOTHER great fully SYNHETIC TO USE! POER WASH ENGINE BAY with GUNK ORANG ORIGNAL cleaner FIRST! LEANR whrer yoru IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IS! LUCKILY on ALL ford engiens, thsi VITAL engein part is REMOVEABLE for cleaning up! WHEN THEY STICK form SLDUGE you DUMP your AIR/FUEL mixture at LOW speeds and you can expect O sensor problems and even a FILELD UP CONVERTER over time! FORD makes GREAT STUFF and tests them THOROUGHLY before they hit the public, USUALLY! WHA exactly happend to YOUR TRANS that you needed a REBUIOLD! Those are really ROCK SOLID and co-engineered by GM people as well! My family has owned FOUR TAURS cars, and they ALL got TRANS FLUID CHANGS on time, and had CLEAN IAC valves! the IAC also has to do withTRANS SHFIT POINTS on front drive cars olike this one is! I THINK you got ROBBED here! EMISSIONS systems include VAPOR VALVE and HOSES, and EGR valves that wil SCK if SDL:UDGE builds up in them. But the 3.0 engien is ROCK SOLID and wil NEVER USE ANY OIL! It is made the way BENZ engiens are made with HIGH SILICON CYLLIDNER WALL CONTENT! EXCELLENT! I suggest that most of your WOES were cause by NEGLECT and using CHEAPEST OIL! NO VALVOLINE shodul be used in these engines at any time! IT MAKES SLDUGE INSIDE SENSOS and can TRASH Out your O2 sensors as well! GOOD LUCK!!
I would check into the pressure of the transmission, a leaking shift solenoid o ring, a torque converter solenoid, a sticking control valve in the valve body Etc. So a pressure test will confirm the cause. It could cause by the ignition system, thing like the ignition coil pack, cross firing between spark plug cables or a restricted CAT (Catalytic converter) will cause the same thing. Etc The Check engine light (SEL) or the emission light are the same so you should get the code read out. Auto Zone, Advance auto parts do it for free and it'll guide you into the right path for the diagnosis. Ps: Update what you find and send me a message, I'll see it on my phone and will give more properly advices. HTH
