Question:

2009 Toyota corolla airbag light on. Any ideas?

It goes on and stays on. It has not been hit or had any kind of impact. I have read that some cars flash a code and it does not. It is just the airbag light that goes on. Nothing else. I need to take it for inspection shortly and know it will not pass because of that light. I really do not have any extra money to spend. It doesn‘t flash. It goes on and stays on. It has been happening for almost two weeks now. I have read it can cost up to $2000 and I do not have that. Anyway I can find out the issue without it costing a lot? Thanks.

The airbag light means that there is a fault in the airbag system. A code will be stored in the computer which will tell you where the fault is. Many auto parts chains will do a computer scan for free, telling you what the code is. Most likely the clock spring in the steering wheel has gone bad, and the computer is reading the drivers air bag as not responding. The clock spring allows the electrical connections to the steering wheel air bag, while the wheel turns
