i have a chev berretta, i pulled into my parking stall, and the check engine light came on. i immediately put the car in park and turned it off. i turned it back on and the light was off, but came on 10 seconds later. I left the car, and came back about 15 mins later and toook the car for a drive and the light never appeared at all!?one thing i did notice though, when you turn the car to the on position., right before the start. all the dashboard lights turn on, but the engine light STAYS on. and doesnt turn off till the car has been started. anyone have any ideas?
More than likely your light came on for a fuel system error. Namely the gas cap may not have been seated all the way causing an air leak. Since the light does not stay on now means that the error has not reoccurred. Check and make sure you cap is tight and turn it the recommended clicks that the cap or tag states. Usually 4-5 clicks. Take your vehicle to Advance Auto and have the trouble code checked. At your request you can have all codes cleared. The dash light will still light when you start the vehicle but will then turn off. This is normal.
