Question:

98 Acura TL Car Alarm Problem?

I just bought A 98 Acura TL and i went to unlock my car next thing I know the alarm is going off and I don't have the remote for it. I unplugged the horn fuse so the alarm would stop but now i cant start my car. Any Suggestions?

Answer:

Most likely the battery is dying and this is the warning indication. It is also possible that the alarm itself is going bad. Take the cover off and check to see if there is anything written inside to tell you what the trouble codes are for that unit. If you don't find any trouble codes start by replacing the battery which is the cheapest option. If the problem persists, replace the entire alarm with a new one. I believe that smoke alarms are supposed to be changed out every 6 years. I just replaced mine with one that has a LED light that comes on when the alarm goes off for under $20. The light is a nice feature to help you find an exit in a room full of smoke.
any auto parts stores, walmart and I am sure Lowes has them too as well as home depot
