Smoke detectors will just die; they do not last forever. In your shoes I would try an isolate the one that is giving you problems. Maybe remove all the detectors in half the house. If a two story house maybe all the ones on one floor. Then wait and see if the trouble comes back. If is does then remove half of what is remaining and so on. If not then reinstall half the ones removed, continue till you isolate the bad one.
Because it is blue it will be one of the most powerful and subsequently brighter of laser pointers so I would not recommend using it in very dark rooms because it may light up more than just a dot and DO NOT use it to point at the sky(especially at planes) because that could be dangerous and illegal.
