I have a 99 pontiac sunfire breeze and there is a light that is coming on in the dash saying ETS off. I can not find it in the book and the people at the auto store dont know what it means either. Could anyone help me on this?
my large stick has the best shot.
ETS is Electronic Traction System, That light is just telling you it's off. There should be a button on the gear shifter you push to turn the ETS on and off. When the ETS is on you won't see a light. ETS is great in rain or snow.
i would definitely go with the re-bock 10k altho me personally would rather go with a easton ST
I had the same thing with my 99 Alero. It's more annoying than anything. It's the ABS sensor that is going bad or has gone bad. The sensor is in the wheel bearing so the only way to fix it is to replace the bearing.
It is the traction control system. Assuming that you cannot just hit the button and turn it off (the left side of the floor shifter) It normally is tripped because of a bad hub bearing or ABS wheel speed sensor. I have seen the ets light come on due to turning sharp on a slippery surface (ie mud or gravel) when an actual problem doesn't exist. Have Auto Zone or Advance pull your computer codes for you and then clear the ETS light. IF it comes back on, you have a sensor bad, if not, it may have tripped due to wheel spin and it's nothing to worry about. PS, the guy above me doesn't have a CLUE. Although a Sunfire might not be the best American car made, there are plenty of American cars that are MUCH better than ANY underpowered, uncomfortable, jap crap that has timing belts to be replaced, bad cv joints, weak automatic transmissions, and HIGH repair bills. If you HAVE to go Japanese, buy Nissan!
