Question:

a good exhaust system ?

im looking for a good exhaust system for my 96‘ honda civic sedan lx. i dont want to pay over $400 though.

Answer:

A really good exhaust system is the Apexi WS2 because of its good shape and performance increase not to mention the really deep tone it has. Its not a ricey loudddd exhuast. Its quiet at everyday speeds and most tuner heads decide to go with it. Has a nice growl when you step on it. It really is good. If not that then the Buddy Club Rcing Spec Muffler Spec II. Its also as good as the other one. It has a small tip at the end kind of like stock and that might not do it for you but it really is good. This is in order of what i would reccomend from greater to least. They are all similar, you cant go wrong, its all about the sound, looks and where the performance kicks in(lower rpms/higher rpms). Also check out the RSR ExMag,Greddy SP2,Tanabe Super Medalion Hyper, Apexi N1, Greddy EVO 2, Skunk Mega power,HKS HI-Power,5gizen Fireball, ES tuning, Invidia N1, Greddy Racing TI-c, JIC Magic Bullet Spartan DE Type 1 SuS and the Tanabe Medallion Touring
I believe Magnaflow offers a decently priced system for that car.
Price depends on what pieces you want to replace. Borla and Flowmaster are good.
The light came on because the computer is getting an abnormal reading from a sensor. Have the codes read and re-post with codes for advice. The light turns off if you fix the problem and reset the computer. Otherwise, if you just fix the problem, depending on the sensor, the light may take a day or a few to turn off by itself, if it doesn't right away. Just unhooking the battery or resetting the computer will not make the light stay off without fixing the problem.
Go to about any national chain parts store, like Pep Boys, or Chief, or Kragen, get them to do a code check, with the proper OBD reader, they will give you the code which is stored, and yes, always check the fuel cap first, it will cause a check engine light to come on, which is required by the idiots at the EPA because they do not want any fumes from the fuel tank. Silly isn't it.
