i have a ford galaxy 1999 glx 2.3 petrol car and the abs light is staying on sometimes it goes off it went off yesterday and came bk on this morning i dunno what is happing with thiscan someone help me please thanks its been in the auto elecs yesterday and he checked all the wires and its all fine and before that it was in a garage for 2 weeks and there is nowt up with it.is had a new fan belt tensor and a air con compressor
The ABS light will come on when a fault is detected in any part of the ABS system. There are sensors on the wheels (usually part of the braking assembly) there is also a pump/motor/valve assembly and that is what pumps the brakes so you don't have to. The pump may have gone bad, you need to check the computer codes that have been stored. (this requires a code scanner) The brakes should continue to function just fine but you will have no ABS function until you fix the problem.
