Answer:

Emma is 3, and I have 15 tubs of clothes and baby stuff saved! I've saved it all for that exact same reason what if we have a girl, we'd have to rebuy everything! That would be a pain, since i'm such a control freak when it comes to that. lol. I've saved her pack play, walkers, exersaucer, highchair, carseats, strollers, loads of toys and clothes, blankets, tub, the couple bottles I had, bowls, spoons, sippy cups, shoes, everything I've got her crib mattress, but we'd have to buy a new crib and changing table, a cradle swing since ours got ruined in the flood, and a new bouncy seat.. otherwise we'd be set (I have 2 tubs of boy clothes too, from garage sales! Lol) I keep them in those totes also we have an extra room hubbys man cave area, but the entire north wall is lined with baby stuff ;) Hopefully when we buy a house, we'll have a finished attic and basement too! That would be nice for extra room! I am a pack rat, I keep too much crap!
I just sold the last lot of Cady's clothing this morning. I was going to keep it all until my mother convinced me that if I ever have another child I'll want new clothing just like I did with this one and shes right. Chances are I wouldn't have used much of it. I had about 3 huge totes full. I got over $100 for it which was great. I still have her bouncer and exersaucer but I might sell it. I already sold my travel system. I personally find them a huge waste of moneyI hated it. By the time shes outgrown her convertable carseat its likely to be expired or expiring so I'll sell it too if its not expired yet.
I saved everything of Austin's . Everything. I'm talking about possibly 10-12 Rubbermaid totes full of clothes, along with all the baby gear. I kept everything up in the attic. When I found out my second was a girl, I had to get all those clothes out and get rid of them. :( I did go through them and keep all the gender neutral items, but there was A LOT of things that I just sold for dirt cheap at yard sales or gave away. It was kinda sad. I used the same Graco travel system, swing, play mat, etc the 2nd time around. I bought all of those gender neutral in case our 2nd wasn't a boy.
Please don't stock people. My sister had a stocker once and she was really upset until we had to get a restraining order. If you stock people in Walmart you will probably get the police called on you then you won't never be allowed to go back in there.
I saved some special things but donated most of everything else (that was worthy) to shelter's etc. I try to keep the clutter down. Chances are you will have to replace the carseat anyway. They are only good for about 5 years and the plastic starts to degrade past the point of safety.
