Question:

Air suspension compressor failed, any reason to worry or repair it?

The car has 185K Miles.it‘s a Buick 3800 Series II 3.8L with some other more pressing issues(dancing oil sensor and apparent oil leak from the bottom of the car, either sensor, oil pan or rear main seal).I noticed the air hose lines for the rear suspension were totally shot. corroded and crumbled into dust when I touched them. I did an easy replacement with fresh rubber hose lines. However, now I‘ve realized that the air compressor burned itself out. That explains all the mysterious moaning and groaning.Despite the complete failure of the the air system. The suspension is still phenomonally excellent, just with the shocks by themselves. It‘s level, smooth like a cadillac and only has one firm bounce. It is running about a 4-5 inch gap from the top of the tires to the body frame. Should I just not worry about this and keep driving the puppy.I do have a really heavy giant subwoofer box in the truck, should I at least have that taken out, would that help extend the life of the suspension?

Answer:

Buicks are notorious for the air suspension compressor and related components to go bad. The air suspension is an option that is installed on some Buick vehicles as part of the towing package. You can run the vehicle without the air suspension system without any problems if you are not planning on towing anything such as a camper, trailer or boat with the vehicle.
If you are happy with the way it rides right now , leave it. Maybe you can fill it with service station air hose. I just would not worry
You have to be fu ck ing kidding me! What, are you like 4 years old or something?
thats what your car rides on
shocks, struts, coil springs, leaf springs they all give a car a smooth ride
