I don't completely agree with you. Yes, if the studio is a pre-professional school or a competition school, then yes they should expect their students to follow the dress code. At a recreational school like the one I go to, I feel it's more important for the students to learn something then be worried about if their hair is down. In ballet we are asked to have hair in a bun and wear a leo, but I'm the only one in class that does (hair sometimes just in a pony, but always out of my face). For the other classes as long as they can move in what they wear, the teachers normally don't have issues.
Get some lightweight, volumizing mousse and run it through your hair from the roots to the tips before blowdrying it. Dry it upside down, and maybe tease it a little at the roots.
