Question:

are lemon and limes bad for you teeth?

so i saw this video where a girl was whitening her teeth with baking soda and lemon/lime juice. She says that she does it once a week and her teeth are stunningly white so i was wondering if there are long term damage that this is causing or if it is fine to use. thank you in advance :)

Answer:

Mine last about 2 weeks. I guess it depends on how old they were when you purchased them from the store, something you will never know. First they get yellowed and dried up and I suppose they are still good, meaning not toxic to consume, at this point. I assume they will be good for a science project well past good eating stage. But if they start showing signs of mold, throw the whole lot out. Being in the desert shouldn't make a difference, since they will be refrigerated anyway.
Not sure I ever had any limes turn yellow from age, but limes last differently depending on the strain and how they were treated before you purchased them, etc. They will begin to dry out over time (even refrigerated) but that won't affect their looks for a long time. Being in the heat of the desert would just speed that up perhaps, and they might eventually look a bit wrinkled or shrivelled (and contain very little juice). I don't think you'd have a problem with mold though since that usually requires moisture, and especially if the foods are right up next to each other (but desert heat would probably trump that).
