Are metals crystalline? Explain.
Like g had said, when metal had emerged in it's earliest form in the early 70's, it would have been considered a sub genre of rock. I mean when I think of Black Sabbath, I thought of them more as a hard rock band even though they are considered to have had a heavy influence on the Metal genre. But they didn't 'invent' Metal. It's something that progressed of the rock genre the same way Jazz had progressed off of spirituals, ragtime, classical, and brass band or the way the birth of Rock was influenced by jazz and blues. With that being said, although Metal being influenced heavily by 70's hard rock, it really is a genre of it's own. Keep in mind that what sets apart rock and metal is their riffs. It's sort of like rap and hip-hop. They're separate genres but they have similar elements. It's all about how those elements are used. So I would say Metal really is a genre of it's own. Hope I helped. Hope I made sense too xD
Metal is indeed a sub-genre of Rock but because it is so diverse you could say there are sub-sub genres within metal
Pretty sure metal is more head-banging. Take 80's ROCK for example. How many of those songs were head-banging like some Nickleback songs can be? Almost none. So metal is hardcore rock or rock is a soft metal
Metal is to rock as rock is to blues, basically. At first, when it was first emerging in the late 60s and early 70s with bands like Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath, it was indeed just a sub genre of rock; however, that was a LONG time ago, and is no longer the case. It has since grown into it's own, independent genre, with numerous INCREDIBLY varied and distinct subgenres.
Metal is a genre of Rock. Yes. There is soft rock, pop rock, hair rock, punk rock, hard rock (often impossible to distinguish from heavy metal), blues rock, acid rock (one of the terms used for heavy metal before the latter term superseded it), jazz rock, psychedelic rock and others I can't remember right now. Trash metal, black metal, death metal, etc. son subgenres of metal.
