If the elevator is the only way out, a note from your doctor should get you a fire key for the elevator from the building manager. He'll show you how to use it. When a building fire alarm goes off, elevators automatically proceed to a pre-programmed floor (usually the ground floor) and remain there with the doors open. A fire key will allow you to bring the elevator to your floor. Once you get on the elevator, if you don't use the key in the elevator, it will go to the pre-programmed floor. If you use the key, you can go to any floor if the pre-programmed floor isn't the ground floor.
It might be easier to just protect the entire document. To do that, click Tools, then Protection, and select the options you want regarding formatting restrictions and editing restrictions.
