Are there any Metal fans out there!?

Can someone explain to me all the different kind of genres. From what i think:-metalcore is like hardcore metal with some screaming some regular vocals-metal is like hardcore rock???? help-death metal is a step past metalcore and there is more screaming???-black metal is like devil worshiping stuff...right?any other things i missed?P.S. my favorite metal bands are Asking Alexandria, blessthefall, and As I Lay Dying....you guys?
